HURRICANE SEASON
An Evening Before the Parade
Each year the season returns to the Atlantic. Many of its largest storms begin as tropical waves off the coast of West Africa and cross the ocean toward the Caribbean โ arriving in the same weeks as Carnival. One season of uncertainty, one of celebration, both shaping how communities across the diaspora prepare, remember, create and gather.
ย ย ย ย In the lead-up to the West Indian Day Parade, an evening of film, conversation, sound and music with artists, filmmakers, curators and cultural thinkers, on the relationship between climate, culture and memory.ย

The evening asksthree questions
01What remains after a storm has passed?
02How do landscapes, bodies and communities carry the memory of environmental and historical upheaval?
03How do communities turn recurring uncertainty into movement, artistic expression and collective celebration?
